I&E Turnover Coordinator

Location: Sarnia, ON

Schedule: M-F, Day Shift

Duration: 6-9 months

The Turnover Coordinator will be responsible for managing the interface between the Contractor, the Construction Management & Completions team, the Turnover team and any applicable Commissioning representatives during the Completions and Turnover phase of the project for their respective discipline. They will also monitor construction progress to report on turnover process system milestone constraints and champion priorities amongst the project team.

Responsibilities

The Turnover Coordinator’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing direction and coordination for Contractors and the Construction Management Team for the turnover of the work related to the I&E discipline as it relates to the Completions and Turnover
  • Leading various Walkdowns for the Completions and Turnover of the work
  • Coordinating the development, submission, and dispositioning of Deficiency Punch Lists
  • Having a thorough understanding of the contracted scope of work related to the I&E discipline
  • Reviewing and approving the Contractors System Turnover Packages
  • Assisting with the development of the Mechanical Completion Certificate
  • Conducting periodic audits in the field to ensure work is performed per plans, procedures and specifications per the Quality Assurance Plans via coordination with the respective Construction Coordinators, Superintendents, and Quality Assurance Inspectors
  • Providing timely information to the Turnover Lead with respect to completions and turnover progress / status.
  • Participating in the QA/QC inspections for the I&E discipline, as required
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Construction Management Team, as required
  • Monitoring construction progress and providing timely information to the Turnover Lead with respect to completions and turnover progress / status.
  • Facilitating timely resolution of turnover issues and concerns
  • Anticipating arising issues to the project team, and addressing them with the Turnover Lead accordingly
  • Assisting with redline drawing reviews as required
  • Participating in and actively leading project Responsible Care initiatives and expectations per the project Responsible Care Plan

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have an Engineering Degree, or Technologists Diploma, Journeyman level trade ticket and/or minimum of 8+ years of construction experience in its related construction discipline. In addition, they will have:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of discipline of expertise
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others in a non-confrontational manner and work collaboratively
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the completions and turnover processes for large construction projects
  • Experience in commissioning systems and requirements
  • Demonstrated strengths in using Completions & Turnover software (e.g Hexagon, MS Access, MS Excel)
  • Experience in Turnover document requirements
  • Leverages creativity and problem solving to overcome roadblocks. Proposes alternate solutions instead of raising problems or getting stuck procedurally
  • Takes initiative and makes timely decisions appropriate to the role. Demonstrates good judgement and knows when to inform vs escalate
  • Is time ‘conscious’. Keeps a vigilant eye on contractor/team turnover requirements against weekly/monthly targets for CTO
  • Highly organized in administering processes yet situationally flexible

  • Fall arrest certification is desired (working from heights)
