Brunel have partnered with a leading marine towage service provider to successfully recruit and place a suitably qualified HSEQ Advisor for a permanent opportunity supporting their Clients site-based team in Port Hedlund, servicing the Energy and Resources sectors.

This is an integral role for the implementation of HSEQ behavioral based leadership and strategies within the company. You will provide ongoing leadership and mentoring of a positive safety culture. Actively demonstrate compliance with company and client policies and procedures and lead and advise all employees on occupational health risk mitigation strategies.

  • Actively in the field as a safety coach and mentor.
  • Assist in the management of Safety Management System to ensure the System complies with AS/NZS 4801, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Policy and procedural review and assistance with development.
  • Assist in the implementation where appropriate of Client HSEQ procedures and projects and contract requirements.
  • Support the Operations Manager as required, provide active assistance of workers compensation matters including rehabilitation, case management and return to work programs.
  • Assist with the delivery of HSEQ Strategic Plans and Project Plans.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle programs and contributing to the overall well-being of personnel, clients and visitors.
  • Continually seek out new and innovative ways of managing risk.
  • Facilitate emergency and crisis response procedures.
  • Assist with the processes of the training management system. Ensure the process complies with company and client requirements.
  • Complete incident investigations and recommend corrective/preventative action where appropriate
  • Action Incident reports, Hazards and Improvement notices to finalisation.
  • Assist with training and certification of crews and input into vessel systems.
  • Training related information for handback and corrective actions, audit outcomes closed and stock take of consumables completed for handback
  • Contractor pre-qualification, assessments, auditing and approval of risk assessment for non-approved contractor’s scope of works
  • Compliance review legal, standards and client requirements.
  • Project risk planning
  • Reporting any actual or potential environmental incident , hazard or occurrence to licensee
  • Perform cyclone inspection and audits
  • Ensure the implementation and effective roll out of the fatigue management plan, including necessary training
  • Organised all required medicals, including pre-employment medicals
  • Management of hazardous substances and dangerous goods onsite
  • Facilitation of the company induction
  • Conduct and coordinate all health & Safety, quality and environmental training
  • Monitor non-conformances and ensure close out non-conformances in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a HSEQ Generalist or Safety Officer.
  • Minimum of (2) years at a leadership level operational role within the Marine industry.
  • Experiences in investigation management.
  • Certificate IV or higher Health and Safety highly regarded.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of AS/NZS 4801, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 and with Internal and Lead Auditor Qualifications.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of Legislation including Workplace Harmonisation Act, Mines Act, National System for Domestic Commercial Vessel Safety and International Standard for the Safe Management and Operation of Ships (ISM Code) and Lloyd’s classification.
  • Comprehensive experience with integrating and complying with Client Safety Standards and other requirements.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. Able to operate effectively at all levels of the organisation to develop, communicate, direct and gain support for the implementation of strategies and plans targeted at maintaining and improving safety performance.
  • Well-developed organisational and administrative skills, including attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and control own workload.
  • Change management experience and ability to implement effectively.
  • Able to use Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • C Class Driver’s License.
